Existential Paradox
theHRDirector magazine (October 2024; Issue 240) have again kindly invited me to contribute my thoughts and advice – this time about the topic du jour (generative) AI and what it might mean for the structure and operations of our workplaces – informed by my research for my first book The Independent Director (published by Palgrave) but also some scepticism about all the hyperbole. In the article, having lived through many eagerly anticipated workplace ‘revolutions’ I take the opportunity to offer a few words on how new-fangled automation often (time-consumingly) skews towards admin, loses key people but, somehow, then leaves executive suites untouched and strategic benefits unfound.
